Located at the border of the commune of Moussac-sur-Vienne, the date of the first construction of Le chateau de la Messeliere is unknown. The chatellenie belonged to the Faugere family starting from second half of XIIIth century.
It was passed by alliance in about 1420 to the Frotier family, the owner nowadays. The Chateau forteresse considered impregnable until the beginning of XVth, it however was attacked by surprised by Guy de Blom, lord of Ressonneau, set fire to it and destroyed in 1357.
