Location - Eyjeaux Department - Haute-Vienne 87
State - Townview Picturesque village located within the Haute-Vienne region. The Chateau (XIVth century), In 1441, Foulques de Jaunhac, rider, had started to build a fortress in Eyjeaux. But this good was in fact built on the territory of the enemy and infested brigands and highwaymen, the chapter of the cathedral and the consuls of Limoges were opposed to the continuation of construction, by considering the proximity dangerous.   But, under the terms of the royal letters, the judge of pariage in the city of Limoges went on the spot with an escort to demolish the already built strengthened parts. It was simply authorized in Foulques to build a residence of pleasure with four towers, an 'attic window' of defence, corbelling above the door, a tower staircase and a palisade around the castle. Any other defence system was prohibited. Church (XIIth century and XVth century)is of Roman origin.          |
