The Chateau de Cromieres, sits just outside the town of Cussac in the Haute Vienne region(Dept 87), With it's oval lawn, the two long barns border the beautiful towers, the chateau of Cromieres forms an unusual silhouette in the Limousin skyline.

Blueprint

The main building is of two symmetrical fore-parts, and the three levels are highlightened with high windows out of regular spans. It was set fire to in about 1852, in front of the home, remains the former strengthened building, perhaps of the 13th century.

Cromieres was indeed a seigniory, qualified chatellenie of the 15th century, dependant on the Viscount of Rochechouart, and which belonged to the family of Pompadour between the middle of the 14th century and the end of the 15th century.
About 1520, president Jean de Selves, new purchaser of the seigniory, undertook the work of modernization, continued through the 17th and 18th centuries by the family of Bermondet, it owes alot to the barns being arranged for armed defense.
Having been used as meeting room to the many Protestants of the area of Rochechouart, it kept its nickname of Temple.
