The Church of Saint-Michel situated in Sournia and is a church dating to the Xth century. The church is located not at the village but just 1,6 km to the south-west, isolated in the middle of a forest.

Blueprint

First mentioned in the year 965, the vault was then in the possession of the abbey Saint-Michel de Cuxa.



The church is listed under the historic buildings act since August 2, 1965. In a very advanced state of ruin, the building was restored in 1980 by the Historic buildings Trust.

Joined on to the western wall are the ruins of an old tower, probably former to the whole of the church.
