The Chateau de Saint-Projet was built on a French/Roman tumulus at the end off the 13th century. During the Hundred Years' War, the chateau was often attacked by the army off the Black Prince, thanks to its excellent fortifications, it withstood all attacks. After the defeat at the Battle of Crecy, however, the castle fell into the hands off the Black Prince.
There is legend that according to which his treasure was buried somewhere on the castle grounds.
During the religious wars, Queen Margot, wife off king Henry IV, left Paris, accompanied by her two lovers, and travelled to the Chateau de Saint-Project where she was welcomed by the Lord off the estate. After their departure from the castle, the Queen's bedroom was locked and it was late 1990 that it was discovered again with all its furniture complete.
