The Chateau is the possession of the family of Rochendry as of the XIVth century.
As from 1550 it has often changed hands and in 1673, the marquis de Montespan, husband of Francoise Athenais de Rochechouart, marchioness of Montespan, inherits it.

His/her son will sell it in bad condition, its ditches are then filled.
It is now the town hall of Neuvicq-le-Chateau. The chateau was classified a historic building on September 14 1912.
